Spring 2018 Couture

Can we talk about this year’s Spring Couture collections? So many legendary designers packed in one week, it’s hard not to drown in the artistic beauty. AF Vandervorst, Ronald Vna Der Kemp, Azzaro, Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab, Maison Margiela, Givenchy, Armani Prive, Chanel… The list seems endless but it leaves you begging for more.

Personally my favorite was Ralph & Russo. Their whole collection blew me away. Mainly filled with gowns and cocktail dresses, their presentation was impeccable. I mean, going against Karl Lagerfeld and Tom Ford isn’t easy but Ralph & Russo never disappoints. In all fairness, it’s hard to pick a favorite collection from the current season. This one stood out to me because I didn’t see one piece that raised my eyebrow, unlike Chanel.

Speaking of Chanel, their gorgeous collection of suits and 1920’s style gowns left me with my jaw dropped, until they showed the extra bright green and blue dresses (looks #36 & 37). Unfortunately that left me a little disappointed, since it seemed a little out of the palette and character of the whole collection. But knowing and loving Lagerfeld’s artistic madness, I just shrugged and kept watching. But it definitely moved down Chanel to my #3, rather than #1.

The question is, who’s the #2? Easy: Armani Prive. The chromatic colors, giant bows, chic suits, and g-o-r-geous gowns left me teared up. This man has flawless style, never leaving you disappointed. Even his Ready-to-Wear collection (which I’ll cover soon) left me daydreaming about those gorgeous suits.

I have to mention Guo Pei in this post just because of the “egg dresses” and the extraordinary gowns presented. Look #21 completely blew me away. I mean, talk about risque?!
